Default staying on the roost?

ok, i was just wondering how in the heck do big 25+ pound birds stay up in the roost without falling out ever? with the wind going like 20-30 mph and they just stay up there like nothing is happening. i know for sure that if i had to sleep and keep my balance for a night that i would be on the ground faster then i would close my eyes. what do u guys think? who_else

i heard their feet lock somehow...i heard if you shot one off roost you can tell because of the way their feet lock..i still dont see how they stay up there feet locked on or not..maybe someone knows....it would be a sight to watch a flock of turkeys fall out of a tree when a big gust of wind comes through! lol..

When a turkey gets settled in on a limb they just put all there weight down on the limb and there feet lock on to the limb. As long as they stay down there feet will not let go....
