Totoe , I' m not sure of your question or if I' m answering it right, But the Aluminum surface has a high volume pitch , seems it don' t matter what you use on this surface it is going to be a little higher then normal. Used with a carbon striker this call is a good Locator/Volume call and also will not be effected by wet weather. If your looking for more of a soft raspy sound from it Walnut seems to tone the volume a little. Soft woods seem to keep that pitch down. Hope this helps you a little...BT

Like Wacker said, rough it up good at home with some fine sandpaper then take a piece of green scrubber pad to the field with you and keep it roughed up often. Then try a rosewood striker on it. I' ve been using a rosewood on an aluminum call for a few years now and it has been the demise of several gobblers. I' ve tried several different strikers on it and the rosewood sounds by far the best with excellent cutts and raspy yelps. Give it a try!!

I don' t have a plain ol' aluminum call, but an oxidized (sp?) alumnium call, it prefers an acrilyic striker for cutts and purrs and rosewood for yelps. I also use a Woods Wise mystic stick alot with this call.

I use a purpleheart striker on my alum call. It seems to work fine. It came with a hickory striker, but I lost it last season. It might also help to put a mark on the edge of the pot to help you find the sweet spot.
