I think they were henned up like kdsberman does. One reason for this is, in my opinion, the fact that no one wants to shoot hens and they have become to numerous. Here in Missouri our fall season lets a hunter shoot either. We need to take some hens just like we take does to better the crop.

Henned up, is exactly why the get quiet after coming off the roost. When on the roost they are letting the hens in the area know where they are, then quit often they go quietshortly after theyhit the ground and expect the hens to come to them. They may come part way, but they want the hems to come in to them. Later in the morning/day they may go to gobbling again after they have done their breeding, looking for new hens.

Weve been blessed with a Turkey explosion here the last two years.The birds havent gobbled like they used to.They dont have to I guess.

Two weeks old....
I'll take that as good enough... some don't fly until that late. Most are flying up at 7 -10 days. All should be flying by 14 days.... so that works good enough for the whole clutch.
