for daylight, early morning, and late afternoon when roosting birds i prefer an owl hooter. another good roosting locator is a coyote howler.

I most often use the owl hooter, but also use and carry a crow call, goose call, and a coyote howler. And the local rooster helps early in the AM as well.

Same here. If I'm trying to roost a bird lots of times I'll use the owl hoot. There are a lot of crows around my part of the world, and often they'll take care of it for me. No sense in making noise if you don't have to.

for my runnin n gunnin i always just carried a Hammerin Crow call...never had a problem getting a shock gobble with it....till this year....i dont think i had a single bird shock to it....but then again, i havent heard a single gobble pasted 815am all season either...and havent had any luck finding one that would fire up after that....very odd year...usually i can do well from 9-11am....

Owl Hoot with my natural voice.Sometimes they dont gobble when you want them to when you get closer to set up.No gear to carry either.
