Default What's this gobbler doing?

Just went hunting today and walked up the powerline noticing a gobbler laying in the green grass. A hen was up and walking around. He looked as if he was just laying there with his fan up. I thinik he saw movement and had his head up looking at me. I stood still and kind of backpedaled, which was a good choice considering I didnt spook him.

I know it seems like he was breeding a hen, but I have actually seen that, and it looked nothing like it. I've seen domesticated turkeys just lay with there fan up, but not a wild turkey. What do you guys think?

They will sometimes sit and fan their tail. I have seen this. They will also fan their tails while on the roost.
