I didn't know if anybody else new this, but you can determine the sex of birds, including turkeys, by there crap. Here's how.
Step 1- Find Crap
Step 2- Look at crap
Step 3- Locate white part of crap
Step 4- Determine if white part of crap is concentrated at end of turd(male), or scattered through out the turd(female)

That how you identify a bird's sex, by there crap, this may help you in your scoutings.

If stool is J shaped, it is a Tom!!

Thats what I have always heard, but I didn't know if it was true or not...

Its true. A hen's is collected in the cloaca and then deposited, so it comes out shaped sorta like a snail shell. A tom doesn't have a cloaca, so it comes out j-shaped. I learned that way back in my first semester of turkey school.

Turkey poop 101:

Gobbler's poop is shaped like a J

Hens look like a blob or a snail

Yeah thats what i was always told. J-shaped is male, non-J-shaped is hen.

tis true TOM (Jake & Tom) is a J shape.........scientifically stated above.......

Light green and soft - is not all that old - hard well has been layin there a while.....

BUT I WONDER

Does the top or bottom of the "J" piont the direction he went or does it leave him random like?

Guess I'll pay attention to the turkey foot prints a bit more now as I just thought up that question and I wanna know!
