The curl comes out first. But, a tom is tall enough that it might flip over before hitting the ground -- then again, might not. So, you really can't tell his direction of travel by looking only at the dropping.

Here's another tip. If you really want to know how fresh it is, pick it up and put it in your mouth and chew on it. Cold and crusty = old. Cold and chewy = fresher. Warm and soft = build a blind and start callilng.

The turkeys droppings fall randomly, as far as I could tell this after noon.
But, it was pretty windy, so I might have to check tomorrow again.
