Hey WMHW just curious... Beings that you really don't take the whole turkey hunting thing very serious... Do you still manage to kill the big bird??? And if so... How many have you harvested over the years???

Exactly. I have a "friend" that wants so bad for me to take him turkey hunting. He's the type that will buy the cheapest ammo and doesn't believe that spending an hour at the range patterning your gun is worth it. He doesn't own a turkey call and doesn't care to learn either.

He also believes that turkey hunting consists of sitting down by a tree, calling two or three times and PRESTO, there's your turkey! But he wants me to waste my time and call a bird in for him that I've already spent hours patterning just so he can drop the hammer on him and say "he" killed a tom. People like this make me want to vomit.
Simp speaks the truth!

Hold on...I'd say that was an honest question with maybe just a little sarcasm stirred in. But if I had to guess I'd say that WesternMDhardwoods probably has taken a few.Doesn't it always seem like the guys that are the least prepared (no offense WMDhardwoods!) end up getting some of the nicest bucks or turkeys every year?

As a matter of fact Mr.Longbeard, I just started turkey hunting last year and YES I did manage to take two jakes last spring. Also would you believe one of them was out there about 35yds as well;)[:-]!!
I know just Jakes but I felt damn proud of myself for just getting into it! So go ahead and yell at me for shooting an immature bird, I can take it!

That dude serves no purpose but to chime in with his 2 cents every once in a while and say something dumb.... over 3000 retarded posts is all it adds up to.
Do what you want and enjoy your right to hunt how you want to as long as its legal. I would recommend patterning a gun though, just to get a good idea of your limitations.

Hey congrats on you two birds... I know you earned them!!!Any guy that hunts the mountains of Western Md is a friend of mine!!!

As for the smart coment by kj... Most of my comments are towards you silver spoon turkey hunters... You know... The guy who hunts prime private land and kills unpressured turkeys and thinks he's really did something... My Grandmother always told me that the truth hurts;)
