Handicapped hunter needs advice
#11
Thanks JW, I really appreciate the information. I wish that I had a mentor to take me out a couple of times and show me how it's done but you guys have given me some very valuable information that will surely come in handy this spring. If the sale is still on, I'm going to order the B-Mobile and Mobile hen here in just a few minutes. Thanks again and keep the pointers coming. If there's anyone in southeast NC that would take me out, I'd surely be willing to pay for a hunt.

Bigtimer...You got a good heart, I like that! Willing to pay! Not everyone is! It's the offer that counts!
I never thought of that[&o]Good advice!
BT Movement is Key!!!! I have never had much luck at slow movement. The
Trick about the Gun Barrel make sence.
If my Gun is not in Position? I have found "SNAP" Shooting works for me. Most of the time the Gobbler will take a look and Run or Try to take off from there. And it leaves you just enough time to shoot. If the Gun gets hung in your Camo you got to hope for the best. I have the Truth 18 &19 from Priomos If I could move around like what they show in those Vido's I could have killed another truck load of Birds
I hope you understand what I am saying?
I was just thinking all the Birds I have Killed. I have never used a Decoy
Not that I don't have one, are that I didn't try. I guess I was a Run and Gunner.
JW nice of you to help, very good advice.
BT we all are Pulling for you. I don't think we need to call for prayers yet
We don't need to bother the Lord over this small stuff.
BT If you have one of those Carts I would Camo it

Blinds should always be placed on the shady sides of fields - look at this

Bigtimer there's no chance I'll be getting to NC any time soon but if you can get to Wisconsin during the season I will take you. There are late season tags available in areas that I hunt and there are disabled only permit areas with tags available also. If that could work for you, check the WI dnr website and let me know. I have places in zones 21 and 22 we could try.

You guys are great!!! I'm really learning a lot from you all. WI is a little bit of a drive for me but who know? I was at the farm before light this morning and saw 4 toms from the truck using my spotting scope. It's a large field planted in winter wheat. A creek runs down the backside of the field and about 40 yards off of the back edge, there is an old cemetery with 1 gravesite in it and a couple of big oaks in it. A perfect ambush site I think. The turkeys have a habit of coming from the creek in the morning and coming into the field, passing between the cemetery and the creek. I'll try to get a picture( from a distance of course). I 'm going to check it out once a week until the season comes in and be carefull not to spook them. Well, I'm headed to the gunshop to pick up my son's gun and get the sights installed on mine.

If you can post pictures or send them via e-mail _ We certainly can help fin you a spot to set a blind in. Look for Westerns sides as the sun comes up to help keep you int he shade longer.
I also look for some natural type overhang to help me blend in the blind and of course will be need to be easily accessed for you1

Bigtimer, where are you at in s/e NC ,I live in Duplin county and would be more than happy to get you started in the right direction. I have decoys, big blind, calls and about anything else you'd need if i don't have it we'll find it. It would be an honor if you would allow me to call a bird or two in for you. The cost will be that you in turn introduce someone(a kid if possible)else to hunting. PM me with your contact info. It's not far off,Let's go hunting
