New custom calls anyone?

Just wondering what new calls all the other custom call addicts are picking up this year. I have a hand-turned, chestnut glass call on the way from Ronnie Clough of Close Calls in Maryland. If I decide to pick up another friction call this spring it will either be an Osage Orange slate from Steve Harrison or the "world famous" turned cedar slate over slate from Close Calls. Decisions decisions!

LOL
I just left the Close-Calls webpage!! I'm really wanting one of his tube calls and one each of the new limited calls he has. I have a friend picking up a Kenney Harrel box call at the convention this weekend. I was also given a "Last Call" as a Christmas present this year, sounds great. I have a custom Adrian Hare striker on the way. I have also gotten two Perfection calls this week. New in the box. Though not custom they are no longer in business and I really like their calls. Can't wait for the glass call to get here so I can try that Adrian striker on it

TScott,
I bought a tube call from Ronnie back in 2000, before he changed the looks of them. They' re awesome! In fact, I might use it in a callin contest at the end of this month.
I assume the limited calls you' re referring to are the Natural slate and glass? Well, I spoke with him about the new octagon shaped glass and said I' d rather have a round one, so he said that he' d be glad to make me one special. What a guy. He' s becoming my favorite callmaker!
I think I shoulda ordered that Natural slate from him, because chances are I' ll be getting one of those too before long.

wacker,
That' s the next call I want to make. I just finished two sassafras slate over glass with walnut strikers. Sound pretty good. Did you coat your glass with anything? I' m thinking of using spray on etching I picked up at Lowes for the underside.

I got my Pine Ridge box call in and picked up one from Bob James on E-Bay. Haven' t got the James call yet, but I' ll let you know when it gets here.
This Pine Ridge call is SWEET! I REALLY like this box. It' s small and sounds excellent! High pitched and raspy on one side and mellow and raspy on the other. If I' d received it first I may have passed on the Bob James call.
But then, you can' t have too many calls, can you?

Wacker, just thought I would tell you that is a nice looking piece of work you' ve got there. Looks almost too nice to use! That is something to be proud of. Wish I had the equipment and talent to do that.

My favorite is the glass/slate Graveyard call made by Leland Keith. The excellent craftmanship makes it look almost to nice to take into the woods but it sound to good not to. Leland usually has a call or 2 listed on Ebay and I' ve seen them go for anywhere between $60 - $200 or you can take a look at www.graveyardcalls.com His custom strikers are great also.
