This spring will be my sixth year. I killed a jake my first year and a longbeard in 2001. Missed some birds in the fall and always have 'em close in the spring, just doesn't always come together.

I guesse this will be my 7th year hunting them,Iv'e taken two bird's per year except a couple year's they allowed two bird's in the fall hunt,So that would make 16 bird's
last year my son was old enough to hunt turkey's and I helped him take a bird in the spring and one in the fall.

I've hunted for 3 years and taken 4 turkeys. I've been lucky and they've all been large. My first one had an 11" beard but no spurs. Just one little knob and nothing on his other leg.
I don't think we have public land to turkey hunt here except for quota hunts. He have 1 day of public hunting on one WMA close to my house.
I've always hunted private land.

I can't remember how many I've killed since '69, but I do know I've killed about 18 gobblers, and only 2 have been jakes. And I haven't bagged a bird in almost 4 years. Add all the hens I've killed, and the total goes to over 30, for sure. I quit killing hens ten years ago.

Nine years ago I decided to try Turkey hunting. I was skunked. Didn't even see a bird within 100 yards. I tried it again halfheartedly for a couple more years. Nothing.
Five years ago I decided to really apply myself. I started practicing
my calls in the winter. I attended two seminars and went to a patterning event. A month before the season I started scouting. Every day.
I hunted two states that year ( NH & Vt.) Limited out in both states with a jake and two nice toms.
The next year I shot one tom in each state.
The last two years have been more difficult. One tom each year only.
That leaves me with six toms and a jake. I LOVE IT.

Have hunted turkeys for 9 years now and have been able to harvest 15 birds. Only wish I would have started hunting them earlier in life. To me, it is the ultimate!

I've been at it now for about 10 years and will never stop chasing turkeys until I die. I'm up to 20 gobblers taken in that time. I've hunted in WV,MD,NH,NY and in PA. This year VT will by added to the list along with a VT gobbler, I hope.
