I`m from Canada and i was wondering about hunting George Washington National Forest. What can i expect? Is public land crowded, whats the best part of the season? Any help would be great.

If you haven't been to the George Washington NF, you're in for a treat. It really is a pretty piece of country. There's a lot of tough hunting, steep ridges, and high mountain tops. There are good numbers of birds but like everywhere else you have to locate them. Hunting pressure isn't to bad compared to SW Va and East Tn where I'm from. The mast crop there this past fall was pretty short so a lot of the birds I usually see in the fall weren't there. I'd pick the first of the season as the time to go as Va season opens I think the 12 of April. If I can be of any help drop me an email.
