Just my opinion though - anything over 40 yards - well you are missing what turkey hutning is really about. Call the bird up close and personal!

Am proud to say to date - for the number of birds I have taken - my average is 22 yards.

What do you do if a gobbler plays hard to get and will only come into 35-40 yards??? Do you just lethim walk or do you take him???

I hunt Pressured Gobblers... And like I've said before... These birds are tough!!! I cant take a chance on playing aroundhopeing he will come into 20 yards and let me get that so called "close shot" that you talk about...

If a gobbler is coming in and he looks like he's not on full alert, then I'll keep a bead on him and let him come closer... but 90% of the time there on full alert and looking hard for the hen makeing the calls... If he is in range and I've got the shot I take it...

SOUNDS LIKE MINE AND YOUR TURKEYS ARE A LOT DIFFERENT

sounds like your 35 yard shot still qualifies as within range to him, gotta read man. as far as the difference in the turkeys, the only real difference i can see is that JWs birds likely dont have 20,000 acres of woods to retreat to andhide in. Now go write that down in your public land jernal.[8D]
