I hunt the southeast of Nebraska not the western part of the state. I would recommend posting on our Game & Parks forum ans see who respondes. The link is:

The terrain I hunt is Missouri river bottom forest. Pretty flat and 100% hardwood forest with just a few open areas.
Your guess is as good as mine as to what I'm shooting because the majority of our birds were transplanted. We've got a mixture of easterns, merriams, and Rios all over the state. I do think northwest NE are all merriams just like South Dakota.
The place I hunt is public and thick with turkeys so I haven't gone out looking for private land. I think the southeastern part of the state has good turkey numbers along the rivers.
