Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Fall firearms opener was today, so

I got my boss to let me off 1/2 hour early today, so I raced home, and showered, grabbed the guns and gear, and Brandon and I were off to the property. We made it down their about 4:45, and noticed my gate was open, Eric, my buddy was there bowhunting out of a blind on my food plot, so we stopped, said hi, and went south to my nieghbors timber. We got about 50 yards in along the fence row next to this big pasture, when we saw about 5 or 6 birds out in the pasture. We closed in about another 50 and set up inside the fence row, and started calling. At first they started the other way, and disapeared behind a small knoll, I called again, and it wasn't long they came running back out. I called a little more, and they were well on their way. At 50 yards I had Brandon flip his safety off, and start aiming at the birds, They close to 15yards, and they looked like all hens, so I lowered my gun, and told Brandon to pick one, and shoot. He did, and made a clean shot to the head. Turned out to be a young jake. Anyhow, It was exciting, it's his 3rd bird now. And it was fun for a quick afternoon hunt. Now I gotta go and clean a bird, since we just got home. I got pics, but I'm old fashion, and won't have them developed for awhile, will post them when I get them done. Later, Scott

You lucky thing our fall shotgun turkey season does not start for a couple more weeks.
But me and dad have been bowhunting them with the gobbler guiotines.
Congradulations on the turkey.

You have any luck yet? I been thinking about getting some of those. I've missed 3 toms already with my bow, all by an inch or so, guess I have a hard time judging distance on birds. I was thinking my luck would change if I got a guiotine and aim for the head/neck.
