Default Fall season

Are there any different tactics for turkey hunting in the fall? I know turkeys dont mate in the full so would calling still work to bring in a tom or not? Do they roost in different areas or are they more active during certain hours?

They will be in different groups. The Toms in one group and the hens and poults in another group. I try to spook them from the roost and then set up and call them back in. Use a kee kee call.

They will come to just plain old Turkey talk, like Yelps and Clucks.

Lots of Guys bust them up which is fine. But I've killed more Birds just finding sign and Blind Calling.

Fall is a Meat Hunt. One time I had a couple Guys here.I had killed a Bird the day before. We went out the next morning, they killed two coming off roost,an hour later I called the Birds back killed my second Bird.

Here is Pics of a Fall Tom and Hen I killed

Its August 6th and I heard about 10 to 15 gobbles this weekend...
Went out to call to them...and they shut up....dont know why.
The other weekend I saw 14 gobblers and jakes together...while
riding on the atv...mouth called to them and most of them gobbled!
The fighting call might work.....feeding calls....
Figure out there habits and ambush them without calling!

From my experience, the birds around in the area that I hunt in Indiana have different roosting habits than the spring. We have only had one season of fall turkey season so far, and I love it. The turkeys are very vocal, even the toms, they dont gobble but do alot of cluckings and they have a real low yelp.

sometimes fall hunting can be just as exciting as spring hunting if not more..you break up a fall flock for the first time and you'll have a ball with JAKE kee-kee's and listening to half gobbles...they sure can be vocal..
