Anybody still hunting Kansas?
Myself and a buddy are headed out Thursday for a 3 day hunt. I wanted to see where the birds are as far as breeding. Is the breeding over ? are the toms grouping up? I would appreciate any advise.
Thanks

RE: Anybody still hunting Kansas?
I finished up this weekend. Called in a 8 1/2" tom on saturday w/ 2 other birds gobbling in response prior to me pulling the trigger. Everything got real quiet after that. They wouldn't answer anything. I went back sunday morning & only heard one bird on the roast & he was a long way off. I went to work on my food plots and about 2 hrs into that I saw a tom w/ 6 other birds moving through the field. I went back for my shotgun and did a sneak to where I thought they were headed. It was a perfect setup for sneaking and since this bird was henned up I didn't try to call. Made the sneak and a 20 yard shot to use my last tag on a 10" bird. With the weather my hunting had been very poor so I was elated to have things work out like they did.

The huntin here in eastern kansas is still real good. Yesterday evening we watched a bird strut for atleast 2 1/2, 3 hours. The best time I have found to be out in the woods is atlest by 3:00 p.m. maybe sooner I can't count the amount of lone toms I have seen driving out to my huntin spot. That is also when My dad, friend and I have taken 3 out of 4 birds. Good Luck
