This morning I set up on a field where I have been watching a couple toms almost everymorning. They usually would come out between 8:00 and 10:00am but the only thing that came out was three hens. Well I thought that since it was raining maybe they just are staying in the woods, but usually around here when it rains the birds are out in the fields. Any ways, I started takeing a walk through the woods off the field and I noticed alot of trash that hadnt been there long like beer cans and cigarette packs, which kind of ticked me off that they dont even have permission to be there and they are littering, and then I got a bird to answer back finally and then It just stopped. Well, the reason they stopped came walking out of the woods with a bag full of mushrooms right where I heard my bird. Looks like its going to be a stressfull season if things dont get better.

You just got to hate that when it happens , I know it happen to me last spring when I hunted up in Kalkaska Mi.
No matter where I went to hunt , a couple of hours later here comes those darn mushroom pickers.

Had birds comin in at us two years ago on the last day about 11amon a brisk walk and got to about 60 yards and a prop plane flew over us tree top level and all the birds scattered except our decoys, haha go figure, and the toms decided they didn't like that so they walked off into the woods never to see them again. I looked at my mom who I was callin for and kinda laughed and said well I'm hungry lets grab these morels by my feet and go have some breakfast. WCL

Here in Ohio, Turkey season ends for the day at 12:00 noon. I don't know why the shroom hunters don't wait until then to go out into the woods. I realize that they are allowed to go whenever they want to, but personally, I wouldn't take the chance on accidentally getting shot to pick some mushrooms.
