Question on calling early in the morning
#1
I always knew that you dont want to call agressively first thing in the morning, but to call soft. What i dont know is how long after the sun goes up do you have to wait before you can really nail the calls and start being aggressive? Thanks

Really at any point after the turkeys hit the ground I think you can tune it up a little. Each situation is different and you kinda gotta get a "feel" for how the turkey responds to your calling. But my rule of thumb is that if I call while the birds are still on the roost, I keep it very soft. As soon as they hit the ground it's whatever it takes to bring them in. Works for me sometimes, and then sometimes it doesn't. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Ive called more turkeys in during the early am hours being aggressive. I mean I always start off with soft tree yelps before fly down. I try to gauge the gobblers attitude. If I can I try to make them aggresive as well or get a hen mad and get her to come to me.
