Just got a mossburg 535 and testing different kinds of ammo to find out what will work best for spring turkey. I'm leaning towards the new federal premium 3 1/2 inch mag-shok with flight control. The pellets are mixed with a tungsten-iron blend. better than lead and steel. I just need some help with choosing the best number of shot. Any suggestions? ALSO, my extended choke tude reads "lead only" so will the tungsten-iron blend be OK or not?

[Qoute]BY TACKELBERRY::::Any suggestions? ALSO, my extended choke tude reads "lead only" so will the tungsten-iron blend be OK or not? [/qoute]
the tungsten-iron will mess up the lead only choke.it is made for lead ; with mine came several chokes, some said ok for steel and some lead only.
they are to tight for steel, the lead will give and not mess up. the steel does not give into the choke and will stright and split the choke.
at least thats what my book said.

tackelberry88, what you have to find is what shot types and shot materials are siutable for this choke. if you can go to the companies website and check. As with my dad's gun, I bought him a Truglo Gobble Stopper Choke for a 12 gauge Remington and it was labeled "no steel". I wanted to have him try Hevi-13 butI assumed it was denser than steel or lead so I ruled this out and chose to use something else. How ever when I went ot see the actual constriction on the website, I found it was compatible with Hevshot so what you need to do is find out what you can use and then make a choice. If you aren't happy, try a new choke. But I do recommend Hevi-13 #6 3 1/2" loads, they are worth testing out!!

I have the same gun I tried almost every sheel under $12, including the 3.5" federal flight controls. My gun put 138 BB's in a 10" circle with the winchestersupreme high velocity's3.5" #6's, the #5's were a lot less impressive. However I was using a jellyhead choke I picked up for $50. If you want I will shoot them through the stock choke and let you know how it does with that choke. Just send me a PM if you want me to try this for you.

I had better patterns shooting the flight controls through my factory full choke. From what I was told the flight control wad is constricted leaving the super full choke tube and it throws your shot off.
If you are going to usea superfull turkey choke try the winchesters supremes. They patterned the best for me. good luck

I was wondering the same thing. I just got a new Remington 870 Express Turkey w/ the Superfull turkey and was going to inquire about shell selection suggestions.
