This will be my first year hunting turkeys and i am looking for some direction on what choke and shot size to use. I plan on using lead shot to start with i have a 870 with 28" barrel. Any ideas would be helpful thanks.

I would try a choke in the .650 to .660 size and try some #5 and #6 shot in both Winchester and Federal shells. The best combo can only be found out by trying them out. One of these may work for you or it may be none of the above. There aremany options out on the market, you could ask 100 differnent people and get atleast 100 differnent answers. I wish you good luck on finding the best for your gun.

I agree with longbeard. You are going to have to try different stuff out for yourself...but a good place to start is with the Winchester Supreme or the Federal with FlightControl Wad in either a #5 or #6 shot. If you are wanting to save on a choke, then I would try a Undertaker choke which will run around $20 or so. Best of luck this upcomming season!
