Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Thanks Ranchand -

I have another bird that got under my skin on Friday that I really want to dance with again. We played cat and mouse from flydown until 1:30 pm on a quota draw huntat Land between the Lakes in north/central Tennessee (public land famous for tough, call-shy turkeys that gobble and go the other way). He would go up the ridge and I would follow or loop around him. Next time he gobbles he's in the hollow - I go back down there and he gobblesback on the ridge. This went on all morning. I got him once to about 100 yards and againto 40 yardsbut he didn't present a clean shot. I got a good look at him through the scope at 100 and he had a beard that looked like a mop. Of course he had abunch of hens with him buthe will be a great trophy if I am able to connect with this bird on the non-quota weekend. The woods are so open up there with the mature trees and all the undergrowth that was "freezer burned" by temps in the low 20s a couple of weekend's ago. With woods that open it is tough to get an old "sharpie" close because he will stand there and look from quite a distance and if he doesn't see the hen making those sweet sounds he ain't coming in.

BTW, I think we were on the same team last year.

Hunt safe,

Mouthcaller

Weather forecast looks good for this weekend. Should be the first real warm day in a while after a cool rain on Thurs.

Beautiful day Saturday but I didn't hear a single bird. We bumped one off the roost in the dark on the way in but the morning was quiet except for the songbirds. We walked over 5 miles of wilderness area and didn't hear a thing. Heard only two shots across the river. Oh well, it was a beautiful day and had a great time with a friend. Going back out this weekend with another buddy.

Wondering the same thing Ranchand. Appears that the scoreboard up top hasn't been updated in a while. Would be interesting to see how the team contest is progressing.
