Hey guys, today was the last one for us Mo boys, and I finished out with bird two for the season. not as big as the first one, but im tagged out. I havent heard a gobble in 4 days, but I flushed three gobblers off the roost this morning, they never gobbled one time, and aId been calling and hooting only 100 yards away, I flushed them off at 10 after 6. As I was standing there trying to decide what to do next, I heard on clucking down in a draw about 80 yards away, so I sat down and started to cluck back quietly, and here he came, gave me about a 30 yard shot, he weighed 20lbs, had a 20 inch beard, and 1 inch spurs, good bird, but my score wont change on this one. Hows everyone else's season going?

Sorry!! Typo,,, 10 inch beard, 20 lbs, and 1 inch spurs,,lol I guess I should have reread it before I hit the OK button, 20 inch beard would definitely be something.

Great work everyone, sorry to hear the MO season is closed.
I've been getting a bit frustrated, but I only just finished my 2nd weekend, I still have 3 more to go, and I've booked off the fri, tues, weds around the May 24 weeked so don't count me out yet.

Well, sometimes the success of another hunter is worth more than ones own success, and that held very true on my ltest trip to KS. I took a friend back with me who had hunted turkeys two other times with other guys but had never gotten close to getting a shot. Our first morning out, on the first stand, he filled both of his tags with two nice 9" bearded toms. To say he was happy would be an under statement for sure, and I'll tell ya, I really didn't care after that if I got a chance to fill my second tag or not, which I didn't. The first two days were good hunting weather and I had chances to shoot jakes, but I passed them up and bad, very nasty, weather moved in and pretty much ended the weekend for me. So, here's a pic. of me and him with his first two turkeys. It was an awesome moring for sure. I had called in 3 jakes first and told him that it was his choice to shoot them, or not. But, there were several long beards in the field also, so he passed on the jakes. It's a good thing he did because I finally convinced 6 hens to come to us, and they drug three long beards with them. Once the toms got seperated a little, I gave him the go ahead and he dropped the first one, and when the other two toms didn't vacate the area immidiately, I told him to shoot his second bird, if he so chose to do so, and I no more than got the words out of my mouth and he had the second bird down as well.He now has memorys that will last a life time, as do I!!

Angus, I'm glad I'm not alone wth a closed season. Keep your head up Tschaef. Howler, congratulations on being on a great hunt.

Well ,my season ended yesterday without a bird. Sorry I couldn't help the team out but it was tough out there this year. Good luck to all you guys still hunting, and another congrats to all the guys that were successful already this season.

aye aye Captain, hope you don't mind continuing your duties here now that your season is over.

looks like my plans have changed, I did have three extra days off around the May long weekend but work is screwy and theres nothing for me to do now and way too much to do at the end of the month so I'm moving my vacation ahead a bit. I'm taking weds-fri off this week, I'll leave tomorrow night so if you don't hear from me then you won't untill a week from now. With 4 days in a row using shotgun followed by sunday with the bow I have to come back with something!

It just goes that way sometimes MO_Bowhnter, that's why it's called hunting.
