Turkey Scope For A Remington 870
#2
I just ordered a Simmons 2X32 scope for my 870. Some people like open sights or even front beads, but I like fixed low power scopes. I was thinking about going to a red dot, but I asked this forum and the overwhelming response was that people shy away from battery operated sights because you never know when that battery will fail.

I put an Aimpoint 9000SC on my SP10 and am very happy with it. It handles the recoil easily. They are supposed to have a 50,000 hour battery life so we'll see. But I always carry spare batteries......

I replaced my scope with an Aimpoint 9000SC after last spring's season. The reason was for more eye relief. It takes just once getting hit between the eyes with a magnum loaded scoped 12 gauge to know what I mean! It took me 13 years to find out but just one fleeting moment of poor shooting form taught me a painful lesson. I won't be going back to a regular scope on my 870 anytime soon! The Aimpoint gives me 4" more eye relief over the Leupold Vari-X II 1-4 shotgun scope that it replaced. I think I'm gonna like it!
