Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Turkeys are gone

I have a question about where the turkeys arein my area. I live in the far north and hunt turkeys in tough country. There are some grain fields close to where I hunt. I was up there this last week and couldn't find a track in the snow nowhere. I talked to a rancher and said he hasn't seen any turkeys and a guy that lives close by saw a few one day but there should be alot of birds somewhere. Winter is coming but weather has not been bad yet. I find these birds there every spring and they lay in this area. Will birds move out and come back in the spring.

Yes. Around here, they move into large wind-protected wooded areas up to a fewmiles away from their usual spring and summer habitat. If they were there last year, and nothing changes, they'll be there next spring.

I have learned that turkeys will move to an area where they protected from the cold winds and snow like pine trees and other thick cover.
