It isnt going to hurt a bit to get to know every nook and cranny of your hunting area. I will say though that take the turkey sign lightly and dont stop scouting. Our birds go through a mini migration of sorts during spring when the flocks disperse.Where they were one day they might not be for a couple of months once the breeding gets under way.I'll start scouting seriously in two more weeks and keep it up right up until the opening day.

Ya'll don't get much snow down there, well except this year. However, up here in NH I've been able to use their tracks to see where they're roosting. I anticipate a slight change in patterns but have founnd a great spot!

well here the turkeys are still where they go in the winter and fall and will be there till the robins come back...i will say..if there were turkeys there last spring there whould be this spring....but mite and proly wont be there till the robins are in your yard...(i jsut kinda thought the robin thing up) but it seems like a decint timing...but it wont hurt at all to go up and learn the land...the one thing you wouldnt want is the gobbler to have a creek between you and him..or trees fell from last year changing it all or sumthin yano...learn every inch...

Yes absolutely start now if your willing!BB has said it all.Even though there behavior will change as the lengthening of the days increases I have always found birds early in the season still using there winter roost sites.Locating birds now will give you a good place to start in listening for those preseason gobblers come spring!Knowing the lay of the land will tell you alot about a gobblers travel routes and give you an opportunity to make set-ups where you have the best chance to get in front and harvest a bird.So definately if your new to the area scout now.It will pay big dividends later!

I was just out rabbit hunting yesterday with two of my cousins. We tried some of their spots, and we all spotted over 100 birds in this cut corn field at this one spot that we just pulled up to!!! As we were walking into this section of woods you should of seen all the scratchings and tracks!!! I just found a new honey hole for this comming spring!!!! YEAH!!!!
