2nd public land gobbler
Got # 2 yesterday New 870SPS did the trick... Paced it off at 56 paces. I'm figuring around 50 yards. Kinda hard to pace off accurate paces when your on the side of a mountain
20lbs 10" beard 15/16th sharp curved spurs... I'm calling him a 3 year old
I almost forgot.. I shot the bird in up state Pa in Potter Co... A friend of mine took me up to his cabin and he pointed me in the right direction... Bird came in gobbling and strutting the whole way...

Was that the onlybird you heard gobbling? Did your buddy have any luck? I'm going to be in Limestone, NY this weekend and will be hunting on public ground and wanted to see what kind of gobbling activity people are experiencing in that general area. Let me know and congradulations on the nice bird!

No my buddy didn't have any luck...(he's not much of a turkey hunter)I heard prob like 5 different gobblers... The bird I shot had other turkeys with him but they were just over aa rise and I could just hear them yelping... I thought for sure they were going to pull him away but to my surprise he came right in... Took his good ol time thoe

good job on the public land score. i have limited access to private land so have to hunt public ground. total so far is 4 off public ground: 3 from KS walk in areas and 1 from SD black hills. takes some extra work but it's well worth it
