Have ya ever had those gobblers just hang up out of range, and no matter what you did, ya couldn't bring them on in. Well, most of us have witnessed, in the field or on TV, when there are several toms and one gets shot and starts flopping on the ground, several others run over to the downed bird and start flogging it, WELL, here's the tip!! If you have a couple long beards hung up, and if your in a blind or so positioned that they can't see the movement, take your ball cap off and start quickly hitting it on the ground. Your trying to simulate wings flapping against the ground. It works, when all else fails, it works!!
My buddy had two toms last Tuesday that were hung up. He was in a blind, and this is what he did. The toms broke out of strut and went from 50 yards plus to 15 yards in a mere seconds. He was filming, BUT his friend, the shooter, missed with the bow!! That was the first time he had ever tried this trick, and it won't be the last!!

We shoulda tried that this morning. Had my son in a blind at a archery only WMA with three toms within 50yds. They finally broke to leaf rustlin & soft purring, but stll wouldn't break 30yds.

this trick can definitely work. earlier this week when i shot a tom the tom next to it started jumping on it immediately. And then to my surprise the tom who was just over the rise and couldnt see what was going on and had no idea his buddy got shot came over the hill and started jumping on him to.
This proves that they will come the sound of the wings.
