My car is packed w/ my blind, 2x bows, a shotgun (for pops),camo, decoys, calls, and I am sitting here at work waiting for 5pm to finally come so I can head down. It is going to be a looooong day to say the least. [8D]
There are not many things in life better than sitting at the base of that old oak tree on top of the ridge in the dark on opening morning, waiting and anticipating that first gobble from the roost.........with my favorite hunting partner and best friend...my Dad. Tomorrow also happens to be his 55th birthday, so it will be a special day to spend with him in the woods.
Here's a quick pic of my dads first tom that I called in for him last year. He has been deer hunting for 40 years or so, but last year was his first time turkey hunting and I got him hooked real bad. Watching this tom come in and the one we spooked the day before at 35 yards and seeing popsshaking like a leaf when I was working this guy and getting him to put on a show on for us (strutting in for over 100 yards and well over 50 gobbles) was probably the best hunting memory I ever have had yet. Hopefully tomorrow will be another good day!

I wish you guys the best of luck tomorrow whether you are carrying a bow or shotgun, it should be a picture perfect day for hunting. I will be carrying my Allegiance tomorrow to attempt to take my first spring bird w/ a bow. Remember.........pick a spot, shoot strait, and make it count!

im too excited....luckily i just took a 2hr nap...because i know ill get MAYBE 2-3hrs of sleep tonite tops...im kinda sceptical at the spot i picked to start my opener...2yrs ago i hunted there ONE morning in the first week and rolled a nice longbeard at flydown..he hit the ground and got hit with a load of 4s...but they logged some of it last spring....i know the birds are there SOMEWHERE...but not exzactly sure...so im expecting a workout and a run around....there wasnt much sign where they normally feed and roost....thats the spot they opened up mostly..BUT i did kick a lone bird off the roost...maybe 2...the first time it took out flying HARD....the next one was 100yds away....i kinda doubt it could be the same bird...the first one took out HARD and didnt slow down...i dont see how it landed 100yds away flying that hard....but either way there was atleast one....but theres alot of woods back there...only problem is both hillsides are pretty vertical most of the way...some of its a cliff....i know the flock is back there someplace....just gota find them.....i hope i can hear them sounding off from my ridge....i know the woods good enough to get a decint plan quick...but it all depends where they are...2yrs ago was awesome...2 toms roosted together....going NUTS....both flew down within range...i seen a beard hanging on one and let er rip....who knows his buddy could been bigger..but it was my second bird and bigger then the year before....but i picked that spot because i will be SHOCKED to see another hunter...i dont miss the days of hearing every OWL CROW COYOTE AND peacock in the state all in one spot lol.....good luck guys.....be safe out there....hopefully we got a few stories and pics tomarrow!! im going to wake up and STRETCH lol...that hill is a SERIOUS hill.....i found out i had exercise enduced asthma on that hill coon hunting lol.....

Yupper, it can't get here fast enough but tonight and tomorrow is all about the call company and TV show. If you haven't read on it, check either Anticipation thread in in the Turkey forum or the WNEP TV show thread in Northeast Forum...
