Rain strategies? What do the birds do?

RE: Rain strategies? What do the birds do?
From what I have noticed while I have scouted in the rain is that I always tend to see the birds moving into large openings or fields when the rain starts. I have heard that they do this because the rain in the trees makes too much noise and they wouldn't be able to hear something approaching them so they move to the fields where they can see anything coming. But why they truly do it I don't know...
