I think I answered your questions in the note above. Again, Federal claims their Flight control wad shoots best from aNONPORTED choke because it is less likey to seperate the wad from the shot. Many folks here compared ported vs. nonported chokes with this round and report no appreciable difference. I didn't do any comparisons but noted that the Federal flight control round patterned very well from my double ported Mossberg.

With respect to recoil - see my post above. I purchased a ported choke, primarily to reduce recoil in my Mossberg 835. With both a ported barrel and choke my gun now kickes less.
