Finally scored on a bird I have been after for 2 weeks. Hunted him 5 times in the morning and tell this morning he won. Sat. I called in his 3 hens and he stood over and gobbled at everthing but wont follow the hens. That made me mad. Sun. morning called him off the roost to 50 yds. but wouldnt come over the hill. Gobbled till 7:15. It has been raining alot here and it was barely raining this morning. I got there early set out a decoy and sat until 6:00, and no gobbles. Finally at 6:10 they started gobbling about 80 yds away. I thought it was a great set-up. There were 2 toms this morning and the first hit the ground and was gobbling about 75yds off. I thought it was "my" bird so I called on the slate and he gobbled again in the tree. At 6:30 he hit the ground about 35 yds from my decoyand about 15 seconds later he was mine. This was a tough public land bird and is a good Ks turkey. He was 20#, 10 1/4 beard spindley, but had 1 1/4 spurs so he was a 3-4 yr old. I will post pics as soon as I get my camera working again.

Total score 65 1/2. Doug

How many on team 6 are still hunting? I have been done since May 5
here in Arkansas. I wish everyone who is still hunting good luck. Does anyone know how our team is doing against the other teams?

Not sure about the team score but I think we've got at least 6 on the board. I'm still after them but the way the weather has been lately sometimes I wonder why. Talk about some crappy turkey hunting weather! I go to weather.com everyday hoping to see a change but it's always the same. Showers, cloudy and overcast for the past 4 or 5 days and no end in sight.Only a few gobbles on the roost and then everything quiet. I know there are birds there but they don't want to cooperate. Sometimes I hear them 1 to 1 1/2 hours after flydown but I usually have to leave around then. Pesky job is getting in the way of my turkey hunting! Anyway, Ohio season ends this Sunday so I will still give it a shot until the very end. Good Luck to all those still chasing Tom Turkey!
