Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Dumb question?

What are spurs used for?? or are they just on the bird for the heck of it? they seem kinda high up on the leg to do anything.

Spurs are a Toms defense as they can get very sharp.

In fights with other Toms they try to spur and peck each other!

Tried to look for inof on the net and found very little but that is what i have been told.

Seen them in action, both live on live bird, and after I shot a bird, others will come and star attacking it with the spurs. The flap their wings and thrust both feet at the opposing bird to attack, pretty impressive to watch!!
