Congrats on the new gun, but why does it seem that everyone wants a 3 1/2" gun for turkeys these days???????? Gezzeeee, I guess I just don't get it.
For the money you can save on buying justa 3" gun, you can then buy a custom choke tube for it and get a better pattern than with the 3 1/2" gun without all tha wicked recoil!!! The only way I'd even think of getting a 3 1/2" gun, would be in a Semi-Automatic shotgun.
[:-]
i have a 3in gun without a custom choke(i use the remington super full that came with my gun) and i get better patterns than a number of 3 1/2in guns that i've seen.

Maytom, we are not all old wimps like yourself.I shoot the 870 super mag 3 1/2 and love it, despite the kick. Heck, you don't notice the kick when your shooting at a turkey anyway. Can't go wrong with Rem. hevi shot and the 870, it's a deadly combination.

I shoot 3.5 inch shells through my 11-87 Super Mag and I love it!! Doesn't kick all that bad. Then again it is a heavier gun than the 870 and it is Semi-Automatic.

I have the supermag 28"with the wood/blue that I camoed myself. I added a .655 gobblin thunder choke tube, a scope, and use 3 1/2" WS #6's. It patterns great, but I ALWAYS feel the recoil when I shoot, even at turkeys Sometimes I think about shooting 3 inch shells in it, but still haven't made the switch. A glutton for punishment I guess lol.

Okay, after a TON of trial and error with my 3/12 supermag, here is the killer combo I have found:

3 1/2 Federal Flight control Heavyweight #5 shot shell
Tightwad choke (by Primos I think)
True Glo sights

Best patterns that I have managed to do are 19 kill zone (head and neck) at 60 yards with that combo. 19 was the best, but all shots at 60 yards were 15 - 17 kill zone hits. Choke: $25.00 10 Shells: $32.00

Also you guys against the 3 1/2 inch shells, just a confidence thing, no more power, just more bb's, A LOT more bb's..... Just like some of ya putting ascope on a turkey gun...confidence, thats all.

nice gun, but a 3" with the right choke will work just as good

i have one and i love it, im 15 and 135lb and the kick doesnt bother me a bit, actually for some reason i like a gun with a punch lol it just gives me more of a rush, but as for people saying 3inches are just as good, well maybe they are but owell i got a 3 1/2 so thats what im gonna use.
