Im thinking about getting a new turkey gun and im not sure what to get. I want something semi auto and remington. I dont know alot about what remington has in semi auto and what would be good for turkey. I have a benellia nova 12 ga pump and ive grown to dislike it, it is so big and bulkly and seems alot hevier than my dads 870. If you got a bird coming in or in front of you it just is to hard to hold up for long periods of time. hope you guys can help.

A heavy gun is not a bad thing when you are shooting turkey loads. A light gun will kick you into next Tuesday. Usually a semiauto will be heavier than a pump. There's more machinery there. And,a few onces difference in weight won't make any difference after 10 minutes. You still won't be able to hold it up. Learn to rest it on your knee while you are waiting for him to get closer.

If your set on a remington, by all means go to a 1100 & camo it to your likeing. But if you are flexable about makes try a verona. this is an import & they are low cost for an auto, aprox: 270.00. I picked one up about 2 yrs. ago & have been pleased with it. Have tried about all charges in it and cycles flawlessly time & time again. the weight is not great & holds well. If you get a chance go to your dealer and ask to handle one, you might like it. bought mine out of BUCKEYE OUTDOORS NEAR COLUMBUS , OHIO. hope you have a dealer near that handles them. good luck in your search. gb 50

The 1100's are pretty good but I would go with a Remington 11-87. They are chambered for 3.5 inches, where the 1100 is only for the 2 3/4 inch. My turkey gun is an 11-87 and I love it. It shoots great, has never jammed, and has alot less recoil than my pump guns. I have the 11-87 SPS Super Magnum. Here is the web site for it.. http://www.remington.com/firearms/sh...187sps_smg.htm ..You can also get it in camo or wood. I like the black synthetic though. The only thing I will say is that they aren't gonna be lighter weight than the nova. They are a little more narrow though.

I got a Mossberg 835 and it has a great pattern right out of the box. I had a better pattern than Remington 1187, real good concentration with the factory choke, Mossberg makes great turkey guns, there not as expensive as the remington and they make an automatice only it's called the Mossberg 935.
That's all i could recomend, i know it's not a remington but i It IS a great turkey gun

I have 2 Mossberg 835's and will never use another Turkey gun. I would like to know how the 935 is? If it is the semi-auto equivalent to the 835 then it has to be a great gun as well!!! I do have the Remington 1100 as well just do not like auto loaders while Turkey hunting (personal pref.). The 1100 is a good gun!

i know your looking for a rem. auto, so was i. i ended up with a win. 1300 turkey gun [ buck-tom mod.] i know its a pump, but it is fairly light, short barrle, and is drilled and tapped for a scope. i added an undertaker choke. works good [ also camo]. just my 2 cents worth hope it will help.

I bought a Mossberg 835 Ulti-mag this year just for turkey hunting. I patterned it out to 50 yards and had great patterns. I killed my limit this year at 30 yards and 42 yards. The 30 yard turkey had peppered the head and half the neck with no pellets below that. The 42 yard bird never even flopped when I shot him. I'm very pleased with this gun.
