Default Problem...ants in the camera!

Anyone found a good way to deal with this? Every year ants decide that at least one of my cameras is a nice dry place for a nest, find a minute opening, and proceed to foul up the inside of the camera.

The latest was my old moultrie, which had lots of ants and eggs in the D-battery area.

I have had that problem a couple of times. I'm not sure what to do with them to keep them out in the first place but what I did was bring it home and put it in a plastic bag with a rag soaked in ant killer. It definately cured the problem.

I also have had that problem. If you can find some low smelling bug spray, you can try spraying a little in the camera case or on the outside. Or if you don't want to chance spraying the camera, spray the tree area around the cam. I have done it both ways and it seemed to help the problem. And yes I still get alot of pics.

Get an ant trap and set it right near the camera on the tree. The black ones by raid work really well. The ants think they get a free meal, take it back to the queen, and soon, you are ant free. The scent is also minuscule and then you don't have to worry about spraying your camera or putting carcinogens directly on it. Give it a shot, what do you have to lose? BB

You need to find out how they are getting in. Cams are supposed to be sealed.

I use a light coating of insecticidal dust like Sevin in all my metal Bear Boxes and even the plastic camera housings.

The Product I use has a pull out plastic tube applicator. Shake the dust cannister to lossen the dust and then squeeze. A very light coating is all you need.

I experienced ant problems from day 1 and this has stopped it.
