Default Trail Camera Flash; OK or not OK

Alot of trail cameras are going to infared technology these days, but there are are still a few cheaper models with "FLASH". In your opinion, is FLASH- OK or a BAD IDEA?

There is nothing wrong with flashor IR. That is nothing but companies pushing products.

Don't see anything wrong with the flash. Thats what lightning is. Except without the thunder afterwards.

On occassion they will get spooked with the flash, but not often. Its rare in my opinion. For anti theft, IR is less noticeable...................

I have a moultrie i40, on my last set of pics a decent 6 came throught a bottleneck 6 days in a row, about the same time each morning, give or take 45min. Would the same deer come through the same bottleneck if there was a flash going off everytime he came through? Or would he have started avoiding that spot knowing there would be a flash go off when he walked through? I'm thinking flash is probably not OK, but that is just me!

i have both kinds of cams and never had a prob with my flash spooking deer, i have seen so deer shy at firts then they get used to it, also if you have bears in you area its better to go with ir i have seen deer that seem to notice the ir too so it depends more on the person then the deer

I'll second what Vermont hunter said about bears. They seemed to either get very curious or very annoyed by a flash. That said, we've had one bear take down an IR camera three times this year, but that's the only one. Everything else seems to ignore the flash after a few times.
