Default IR Camera Question???

Does an IR cam use a flash? I've read things about them being better for security reasons. I alwaysassumed that they used a red flash, but do they use a flash that humans and animalscan't see?

Thanks,
TXMM

I have a Leaf River IR. The red IR lights light up and you can see the red lights on the cam but they do not project a visible light, at least that I can see, but you definitely do see the red lights themselves.

If you are thinking about this for security reasons, the red light does not produce a flash but a person could see the red lights come on if they were looking in the direction of the camera, and to get a good picture of them they would have to be pretty close to the camera.

You'd have to be looking right at the cam to see the red glow.
