Hey guys! Upfront want to tell you that I work for Moultrie and we are trying to get the word out about some information that has been miscommunicated regarding our cameras on forums, websites and catalogs.
You can NOT hook up a solar panel toour new cameras!!!! Not even if you buy rechargeable batteries.
This was mistakenly placed in some copy discussing our product onforums and in product catalogs. People are talking about getting rechargeable batteries and hooking up a solar panel-you can not do this. You can only hook it up to a 12-volt external source if you want a power supply other than the D-cells. Rechargeable batteries are a good investment even though they tend to be more expensive. Please pass the word onto your friends. We want people know about this mistake and that the cameras still get awesome battery life (150 days)off normal alkaline D-cells.

OK. Sounds like I'm the first one that have had one of these new moultries out in the field. maybe I can give you all some input. I do not like the camera and I especially do not like their claim about 1 second trigger time. it's bs (read below)! Here's what I posted on chasingame:
Here's my complaints:
1) There's a date/time stamp on the image but the dates in windows explorer are all 1/1/2000. That sucks, especially with the videos.
2) with each video is a small corresponding image (where you can get the date/time stamp). But this creates two images for each event. I don't want to find the matching little image for each video just to see when the video was taken.
3) I walked in front of the camera several times today when I went to check it and it never took a pic/video. This is reason enough for me to return the camera.
4) the video goes from light to dark constantly in the 10 second clip. very annoying. Otherwise, the video is pretty good.
5) in the one night picture I got it's just a tiny image but my picture setting is on high. I'm hoping I goofed something because that image is nowhere near 4 megapixel.
6) the 'sleep mode' must be significant because in the one night pic i got all i can see is the deer's butt. Assuming the deer was walking, i'd guess the delay is somewhere around 3-5 seconds (hard to tell because you can't tell when it picked up movement)???? not good, not nearly the 1 second trigger time they advertise. I bought this camera for the 1 second trigger time! It's only 1 second within 2 minutes of the last event. what a joke! It's almost funny when you think that most people have the delay between pics at more then 2 minutes. That makes their whole 1 second claim COMPLETELY garbage.
Since there's moultrie employees posting on this thread maybe they can set me straight if I'm wrong about this. The whole sleep mode really ticks me off. As soon as my batteries die I'm going to return it to cabelas.

Straight from Cabelas concerning the solar panel... this is on the IR 4 MP camera.
With 6.0-megapixel performance, the most of any Moultrie IR game camera, plus the stealth of an infrared flash, this full-featured unit will provide you with the highest quality images and scouting information available. Choose from three photo and two video resolution settings. A built-in 1.5" color viewer lets you scan your images in the field. All images are stamped with time, date, temperature, moon phase and barometric pressure. Six D-cell batteries (not included) provide up to 150 days of reliable operation. The optional Solar Panel Deluxe plugs into the external port and will keep a set of rechargeable D-cell batteries operating continuously at peak power. The infrared flash provides superior illumination in low light and darkness, without the game-spooking effects of a standard white flash. A generous 32MB of internal memory provides ample storage. Supports up to a 4GB SD card (sold separately) that provides additional storage capacity. Laser Aim lets you set and test the camera to determine the precise spot you want captured in your pictures. Includes a security option and a beacon locator with a remote control. Auto-Flash turns off in bright sunlight and automatically activates in low-light or after dark conditions. Also includes a built-in one-second delay, upgradeable software and an external power port. [/align]

Six D cell batteries! That's alot of batteries. They look good, I wonder how the trigger time is.
