Default how far off the trail do you guys put your cameras?

If I want to place my cam along a well used trail, how far off the beaten path should I place it? I assume 5 yards or so? Thanks for the help

I like to put them as close as I can and angle them to the trail to catch the deer coming and going. Setting them up at a 90 degree angle to the trail makes it more difficult to catch moving deer no matter how fast your camera is.

Snoogsdad is right. To get good quality pictures you have to have you camera set where they walk down the trail to the camera. Getting broadside pictures of the deer is much more difficult.

5 to 10 yards off the trail for the best results

I always aim mine right down the trail. You will miss alot of deer if you put it at a 90degree angle. If they are walking fast or running they will be by it before it triggers. By aiming right down the trail it gives your camera plenty of time to sense the deer coming and get the pic off.

If you look at pictures of deer cam pics of deer running, the deer is always coiming right at the camera. Not left to right vice/versa. Not that you won't get one like that but you give yourself a better chance by aiming it down the trail.
