Default long bow knock point

Where should the nock be set on the string of a longbow in relation to the shelf? Thanks!

I really depends on shooting style, arrow set up. but a 1/2" is a good start, then tune.

Mine is between 1/8 and 1/4 above center, but you will have to go by your arrow flight and see what your bow likes.

I usually start at 1/4 inch above 90 degrees.

I read in Matlocks tuning guide to start at 1.5"es and come down. reason being if you are on the high side of good you are better off then the low side like most of us (including myself) have been taught. Something worth trying. he also teaches what is need to shoot vanes off the shelf. Something you'd see in the longbow shooters digest years back before TBM was begun....
