Default New string question

Hello,
I just received the bow I bought for my wife. It is a used 25# RH Bear Panda that says 60" on the side of the riser. I need to get a new string for it; I'm thinking that the 60" on the riser is the AMO length. Do you all agree? Or should I just measure the actual length and go from there? Any other suggestions would be very welcome; I know there is a break in process for the new string...
My bow is a 45# Bear "Black Bear" LH at 58". It's string looks to be in good shape, but looks a little loosely wrapped around where the nock point would be ( I still have to tune that one up with a nock etc...) Any suggestions there?
Thanks

Default RE: New string question

The 60" is the AMO bow length. AMO string length will be 57", but you might prefer 56" or so, depending on what the bow likes. A 10 or 12 strand dacron (B-500 or B-500) string will work well on that one. If you have a string for it, get the brace set and measure that string to have a better idea of what you need.

Sounds like the serving is about to go on the Black Bear's string. You don't want the nock set slipping for sure. If it's in good shape otherwise, you can just get that string re-served. 12-14 strands of dacron should work fine on that one.
