Does anyone know approximately how long it takes Chek-mate to build a recurve? Just got off his website and was impressed with the looks and specs of his bows. I'm also looking at the Bear Super Kodiak. Does anyone have any personal experience with this bow? Many thanks to all who respond

It doesn't take Marc (the bowyer for Chek-Mate) that long to actually build a bow, but they have quite a backlog--right now the expected wait is 4-5 months. That is if he doesn't get his hair caught in a sander [:@].

I've got the Kings Pawn, sorta a longer version of the Falcon, and I've enjoyed shooting it. If you're talking a Falcon vs a current production Kodiak, you'll get more bang for your buck with the ChekMate. If you're talking a vintage Kodiak in good condition and for about the same money, I'd probably swallow hard a couple of times and get the Kodiak.

I have a Check-Mate Falcon Deluxe Its a 60 In 46 lb at 27 in draw , and I draw 28.5 so Im at about 50 Lb.. I Love it it shoots well consistant. I shoot BlackHawk vapor Carbon Wood 3000's they are 29and 7/8'ths long andI shoot a 125 Grn tip. it is a 500 gr arrow I croneyed at 185 per sec. Ive shot 2 Black bears and 3 Mulies with it and had Pass thrus on each shot. I Bought Mine at D/D Archery in 100 Mile House BC Canada. He has several In stck and Don Is a trad shooter himself so he knows his Bows.
