Welcome, it's good to see you here. You might also consider buying a book on the subject. Dean Torges has a book he wrote called "Hunting the Osage bow". It takes you step by step from choosing the wood to final finish. There are also some very accomplished bowyers that visit this site that can point you in the direction you'll need to go. Good luck.

Deans video is awesome! Also there is a great video albeit kinda boring till the end that 3 rivers sells....man if I didnt know Mike in person I would have thought it was his evil twin on that video LMAO! Mark Keller also has a great video on building selfbows, very simple, very down to earth and actually somewhat enjoyable to watch lol! I heard Dean left out some of the secrets to the faceting..anyone else hear this?

Lilhunter, is that the Mark Keller from Kentucky?
If it is, I have done a class with him where I carved out a Black Walnut stave to floor tillering stage but have never completed it, & seen him build a few bows a number of years ago.
What is the name of the video & where could I find it to purchase?

heres the vid info MTB
on the cover:
The Stickery Home School presents:
Making a wood bow with Mark Keller
for more info contact
The butler Did it productions
phone 1-800-871-8474
pictures are great, seeing it happening is much much better! Even if the person behind the camera doesnt say exactly whats happening, you can pick it out....where as in pictures be it book or web pages its really left up to the writer and how well they can describe and get folks to understand whats happening.
For bow building books, selfbows that is, I would get the 3 traditional bowyers bibles....not to mention all the great extras in there!
also check out Primitive Archery Mags web page, they have some great info in there and ways to contact folks!
