Default Well I did it....

.. forgot to pick a spot TWICE! Sure was a rush!

Here is a quick break down! I set up in a spot I have never sat before, new tree. I look and see a few deer coming towards my stand an hour before close, the big Doe comes by, I stop her perfectly broadside, go thru my stuff in my head and try to remember to pick a spot, nope, shot just over her back! She has no idea what just happened, still standing there broadside, I reach into my Arrowmaster and get another arrow, damn, it has a judo on the end. I manage to get another arrow out, nocked and start to draw on her again, she moves, no shot. The other little Doe under my tree, I shoot just under her! I was shaking SO BAD I thought I was going to have a heart attack! I have never been this fired up while hunting before! I just hope to learn and stay focused and pick that spot, either way, sure was the best hunt of my career! Sure am glad i got that out of the way.....

I could feel the excitement over here In Minnesota reading your thread Joe!! There sure Is a huge difference with shooting at one with a compound then shooting at one with a traditional bow. No one can experience It until they've done It. You'll get er done yet Joe, stick to It buddy!! I absolutely can not wait till you stick one!!! I'll be celebrating right along with ya but just a little to the west In front of the screen chugging down a cold one saying, here's to you bud on your 1st traditional kill!!

That's got to be an awesome rush! I'm hoping to have the same situation present itself to me on Saturday! I spent some time last night sharpening my Magnus Stingers, spin testing the arrows and putting them in my quiver for Saturday morning. The wait is killing me.

DOn't fret about it. It's all about the rush.

Been there done that as 99% of us have (if we are willing to admit).

Lol.. I can relate. I remember the first deer I shot at with a trad bow. It was a nice 8pt buck. I ended up shooting under him. That was years and years ago, but I can remember it like it was yesterday. You got it out of your system, the next on will be on the ground.

Been there, done that--shot two arrows at the same deer once (missed both times). Sure is fun!

Steve, to me this season has already been a success! I used to want to kill every deer that walked by my stand, I feel no need anymore! Getting in close as possible makes me think my set ups a bit more and I find it makes me hunt smarter! If I stick one this year with my Longbow it just a big plus! I found out, deer hunting with the Longbow is kinda tough at times, the boy and I like to chase those little critters as well! We look at each other when a tree rat is in range and decide if I should shoot that guy or are we still deer hunting??? Good times!
