I have just been reading on the other bowhunting forum of people talking about you, the traditionalists bashing a compound bow shooter like myself. I have never seen this, but I would like to tell you all that I have a huge respect for you guys. I have shot a recurve before but never got that good. I decided that a compound was a better choice for me. I just wanted to tell you that I have a GREAT respect for you guys.

I don't know what it will take to end the divisions in archery and for that matter hunting. It seems like no matter what weapon we choose, someone has a problem with it.

Hey, what equipment a guy shoots has little to do w/his moral standards IMO. Actually I know a couple guys that'd prolly be better off shooting wheels. (Did I say THAT?? Hehe) Like Lilhunter says, it's all about attitude. Pull up a log & sit a spell, but careful you're liable to get bit! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hey Buck, There has been some Compound bashing by some Trad people.(Not on this site though) I think it is only a few, and most of them are incompetent Trad shooters with target envey. However it makes us all look bad. <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

But then again there are some longbow shooters that make fun of us recurve guys, and selfbow shooters that make fun of glass bow guys, and we all make fun of cross bows. Just kidding. Have a nice day.

People hitting what they aim at impresses me. The Hunt is more important than the kill, and the hunt encompasses the stalking, the setup, and the equipment used as well. I have a shoulder problem, and may have to go to compound in the future, so I don't look down on anyone shooting a compound in any way, or a crossbow for that matter.

HOWEVER, I do think technology is going to go too far and seperate compound shooters from a primitive form of hunting. Thats the argument I am fighting on the Bowhunting forum you know ....

The only thing I've seen on this forum is some good natured kidding comments about training wheels on bows. I used compounds for the first 14 of my 16 years of bowhunting.

I wish I had started with bows 25 years ago when I started deer hunting. And I wish I had started with trad gear!

You might want to rethink the switching to compounds because of your shoulder. That is one of the reasons I switched to trad gear.

That is particularly the case if you draw a compound bow without an arrow nocked, or if you draw to shoot and don't have a shoot and have to let down.

My shoulders experienced a whole lot more pain when I drew my Jennings Buckmaster, at 57#, and let down than I ever felt with my 53# and 57# recurves. Actually, the pain in my shoulders has diminished since I started shooting trad. It strengthens the muscles in the shoulders over time as you practice and you don't have to experience the shock of all the energy stored up in the draw force curve of a compound when you draw and let down without shooting.
