Default Another feather question.

When you guys fletch with 4 feathers do you use 4 90s? and where does the nock go in relation? I'm thinking that I'll fletch the next batch with 4, using 2 white and 2 white barred.

Personally, I don't care for the 4 90s. You'll get contact that can not be avoided. I prefer the 75X15's (I think thatis what the Bitz has).

OK, I have a BITZ. How does the nock go? would the feathers be standing uplike this X or would it be more like the X was on its side?

This maybe better then me trying to explain it:

From Foxfire website:

Note how the feathers are positioned with our 60/120 4 fletch in relationship to the shelf. There no longer are any feathers striking the shelf, while the arrow goes through paradox. Therefore, one can use a lower nocking point. For many years, I used the common 90 degree four fletch and had excellent results. My nock point usually was quite high, like 3/4 “ above square, or more. When, my good friend Roger Rothhaar told me about the 60/120 degree four fletch many years ago, I had to try it. Wow, was I surprised! I was able to lower my nocking point over 1/4 “, which gave me more trajectory without having to raise my point of aim. The best part though, was improved flight.

75/105 on the Bitz
Feathers look like an “X” squished from the top when put on the string.

Ive never seen a need for 4 feathers. I just have to ask those using 4 feather, what advantages do you get from 4 feathers that out weigh the disadvantages? Im always out to learn something new.

Using 4 fletch is mostly a waste of feathers, in my opinion. Unless you're making fluflu's of course.

I havent used fluflus in years, but I did the 4 feather thing for my fluflus for the very reason I see them being a disadvantage for a regular arrow.
