Default Bear Archery

Just bought a couple Bear Archery bow and arrows. they are actually compounds but not one of the modern types. One is a Mirage and the other is the Whitetail Hunter. Both are in great condition and seem to be an excellent brand. I know Fred Bear made these and the quality was always up there. The Whitetail hunter has what looks to be Laminated wood and an Aluminum body. Im not a bow guy so i dont know the names and such of the parts of the bow.

Anyone know anything about these models?

the whitetail hunter has 3 adjustments with a total of 2 pullies that screws on. The Mirage is preset at 50lbs and a 30.5" draw length.

Really would like to know the draw pull weight, draw length "seems short". How far is the whitetail hunter good out to? My father has always wanted to bow hunt but he cant pull back any bows we look at and i was really hoping this would do it for him.

Well, to know the draw wieght, get a bow scale, and I can't remember, but I don't think there is a draw length on that bow. Its just compound wheels. Longer you pull, more wieght. But its been over 23 years, I can't remember. You adjust the wieght you want with teh pulley location.

You know I was gointo say that, but the bear whitetail was so slow, my recurve would be alot faster.

Maybe he's hoping some old fart on the Traditional forum would remember these antiques. [8D]

Bear had so many different models they called 'Whitetail Hunter' over the years that it's impossible to know which one you've got. Pictures would certainly help. I can't remember them ever having one called the Mirage. You sure that one's not a Browning?

both bows are bears. I figured these would be traditional due to the age of these. I'll get pictures later on. they always come out dark inside the house.
