For the last week I been shooting from a treestand , I was moving the deer target all over the yard from 5to 18 yards at all different angles. I was in the zone and I never shot the recurve so good. So tonight I go out and decide to shot from the ground for the first time in a week. To say I sucked would be a understatement!! I was all over the place!!!! So my ? to you guys is there that much difference shooting out of a tree then from the ground or did I just have a very bad day ?? I just got the Instinctive Archery Insights book in the mail today. Some of the guys on Trad-Gang said it was a good book. I can't wait to read it. I hope to get some good tips from it. After tonight I need some good tips[

It's all in consistancy. Keeping that basic "T" stance is one aspect. I'm wondering if you were perhaps dropping the bow arm a bit when shooting from the stand (common). Then maybe going back to the basic "T" form from the ground.
The book is very good and is a good read. I'm not sure how long you have been shooting so I can't really answer whether I think the book will be good for you.
I believe the book was designed for people who have been shooting a while and have pretty much leveled off in their improvement curve. The book was made to get you through to another learning level. It's also a great book for target panic.

There is a difference in shooting at extreme up or down angle, but I agree with Bob here. Since you were "all over the place", most likely you were just having a bad day. If you were consistently missing high or lowI'd say it was due to going back to the ground. Sounds like you were just having a consistency problem.

Thanks for the info. Bob, I been shooting for 2 years now and thats the reason I bought this book. I kind of hit the wall with getting any better or worse. Some of the fine Trad people on Trad Gang said this would help.I read BF Become the Arrow and that has helped alot. I tell you this recurve shooting is a blast but days like the other day after shooting so well the past week was frustration. I say it was just a bad day.Just thought I ask you guys about the treestand and ground shooting. Thanks for the help Bob and LBR

And don't feel bad about the bad day. I had a topic on here a while back that was just about the opposite of your post. I was shooting at the field archery course at 50 yards. I then went to the 3-d course and was trying to shoot at a deer target 20 yards aways. The deer was down a very steep bank though. Not only could I not hit the deer, I couldn'teven focus on him. Next dayI went back to the deer target and couldn't miss.
