The reason I asked....and thought it was a no-brainer.....is a regular baseball style cap gets in the way of my string at full draw.

Hence the question.

I'd like to find a warm weather cap/hat that I could wear this summer while shooting.

tx....does it bother you when the string touches the boonie brim? Just wondering.
I don't even know if it does touch the brim. I know with a ball cap, and as this thread can attest to that dog just won't hunt.
I just like boonie hats. My avatar pic is my first archery deer. I had a boonie that day with my compound. Its all I've ever worn for a hat while hunting.
I'll shoot tonight and find out if the string touches the boonie brim. If it does it sure isn't a bother.

I wear a camo crushable similar to a fedora. Its wool and keeps the rain/snow/sun off you realy well. Its wool so its warm. I got it from www.noggintops.com but I cannot find the same hat now. There are some that look similar but mine has a light camo pattern on it.

Asfor the string at full draw. Its the only hat other than atobogan (SP?) that I can shoot my longbow with. It touches it but thebrimjust moves out of the way. Thecrushable hat isn't stiff so it doesn't effect the shoteven if it touches the string.

I suggest not wearing it then?[8D] Or turning it backwards.

The problem I find with wearing a baseball cap backwards or not at all is that I wear one to keep the sun out of my eyes or the rain out of my face (off my glasses) A wool felt full brim hat wont effect your shooting and keeps you warm. The sun out of your eyes and the rain off your face and neck too.

I like the Trad look too

I wear a baseball style cap when i shoot my longbows. Do you cant your bow? i can only assume you do not if your hat is getting in the way.

Yep, I see all the folks wearing the Asbell hats at all the trad events. They even have stands out selling em. I think you have to be over 50 to wear one. I know I would feel like I am 50 if I wore one.
